close

I remember it. It was one rainy night; we drove the same familiar way we always did.
She tried to see something behind the blurry front window, trying to rise above her despair from this weather and shitty ride.
I was busy taking several cellular pictures of her radio-tape, playing that song.
I was hypnotized to the blue letters on the screen.
That song was so suitable to that frame & situation, that only after it ended, I realized I know it, even though I didn’t pay much attention to it before.

This morning candy is dedicated to this friend of mine, who always manages to surprise me with this music thing of her & always know what the right song is…

This is Telepopmusik in "close"

I don’t put a smile upon your face no more
I can’t make your heart shine like it did before
You don’t listen to my stories anymore
You can’t comfort me the way you did before
Was I too loud,
was I too bad
Was I too open
Was I too high,
was I too fast
Was I too close?

no 1.

Alison Goldfrapp started her musical career singing punk and goth music.
Will Gregory heard her, and asked for a demo tape.

From that point on they started sending mixtapes to one another (since they lived in different regions),and in 1999 the two decided to form a duo, having the same musical tastes and interests, performing under Alison's last name- they are "goldfrapp".(remember postal service?same story).
The same year they signed a major record deal with London based Mute Records.

As the years go by –they switched from chill out-to electronica-to pop & glam rock, winning several Uk music awards.
Their third album Supernature was released in the summer of 2005 and was a great success, peaking at number two in the UK and achieving platinum status.

This morning candy called "no.1"- and I think it's one of their best songs.

Check out the weird video…:)

Enjoy!

Lady sings the blues

Billie Holiday was one of the greatest American jazz singers.
she was also called Lady Day(which is a royalty name for jazz singers).
It is always nice to go back, and listen to her warm voice.
This song is one of the milestones in e jazz music,it is
from "Lady Sings the Blues" - a 1972 biographical film which tells the story of Billie Holiday.

Normally I wouldn't suggest a morning candy that includes jazz ,but since the big rain yesterday ,and the winter coming, I decided it fits the clouds in the sky well…pretty dam good.

Enjoy !

Wilted Flower

Maximilian Hecker is a German musician known for light pop music ( I actually don't really like that term cause I think his music is more light rock ballads than pop,,,).
he is known for the single hit "Polyester" (2001). His latest album I'll Be A Virgin, I'll Be A Mountain, is releasing these days. it's a perfect winter album for those who like to sit on the bed and watch the drops on the window.
Here's one of the singles from this album called "Wilted Flower".

Traces

"Built to spill" are all about guitars. They play indie rock .although they are signed in Warner label and unlike many artists signed to major labels, the deal the band brokered with Warner allowed it to retain a large degree of creative control over future albums.

So now, after 5 years of silence –they come back with the album "You In Reverse".this album arrives as the most collaborative record in the bands thirteen-year history. To a large extent, each musician wrote his own parts. Personally I prefer the first half of it.
And for you I'm handing this morning candy called
"traces".

Praise You -

Before leaving to the desert for the weekend-this is Fatboy Slim's "praise you" crazy video.this is my traveling song for the wekend and it's dedicted to my san fransicso girl .

The video that's making bad dancers look good was shot after Fatboy Slim's performance at the Mayan Theatre in LA. It was shot on the lam outside a Westwood theatre, in one take in under 10 minutes. The dancers are from the fictional "Torrance Community Dance Group," the theatre managers and bouncers appearances were unscheduled, as was a break dancing Michael Jackson impersonator (who was cut from the video)..

The matting game

They lived one block away from each other.
They met when one of them answered an ad about a singer.
After they met they realized they got similar taste in music.
Then they started recording.
They do trip hop, electronic music. if you like zero 7, Portishead-you will probably like them as well.
Today you can hear them in soundtracks of series like nip tuck and grey's anatomy.

They called BITTER:SWEET and this morning candy is "the matting game".

Training wheels

Cloud cut are alternative. they even declare it- in the "philosophy" part of their texts.
They got a bizarre album- 25 tracks (!!!) – Some instrumental, every track tells a different story,it's like you are entering a dream (the album called "Advice from the Happy Hippopotamus").

I got really connected to this song called "training wheels", it's a beautiful fall song
. here's what "popmatters" wrote about it:
"Training Wheels" is a slow, trippy dirge about a child riding his bike without training wheels for the first time: "Today's the day we take off your training wheels / We think you can do it / Do you think you can do it?" The training wheels, of course, serve as a metaphor for innocence and the child doubts his ability to navigate through life without crashing into the ground. As the narrator encourages the child to ride without wheels, a soft electric guitar picks notes over a soft voices repeating "How are you doing?" The overall effect is both charming and haunting."

Enjoy!!

koop island blues

Koop means co-operation.
in their music they mix jazz with electronic touches.
It´s been four years since we heard from the Stockholm based duo of Oscar Simonson and Magnus Zingmark. Their album Waltz for Koop sold of more than 160.000 record buyers across the globe.
Now they are coming back with "koop islands"-which according to them is "A place where music and life swing to a slightly different drum."
They take 30's-40's music and add a unique touch that allows "travel time". feel "than" when you are actually in "now" atmosphere. Their music is created in a post-sampling world where everything is possible, and the outcome is very pleasant.
This morning candy is therefore a little taste of the bigger picture which is the whole album-(didn’t got to it yet, but tell me if you did).

it's called "koop island blues" and it's a great morning candy to you, the light jazz lovers.
Enjoy!
